New York City Boy Killed in Tow Truck Accident

At approximately 9 am on Friday morning, a New York City boy and his mother were hit by a Metropolitan Transportation Authority tow truck as it raced to assist a disabled vehicle on the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge. The boy was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital while his mother sustained serious bodily injuries from the accident. The deceased boy was identified by police as Maxmilio Mendez of the Bronx.

As with most motor vehicle accidents, there are often conflicting reports as to what happened or what caused the accident. This auto accident is no exception. According to one report, the boy and his mom were walking along https://askcompetentlawyer.com/ Second Avenue near the south RFK entrance when they were hit by the MTA tow truck. Another report stated that the boy and his mother were attempting to cross the street at the hidden curved part of the entrance to the RFK when they were hit by the tow truck. Regardless of the many conflicting reports, there are uncontroverted facts that this intersection is in a deep corner and there are no stop signs or crossing guard or police presence directing traffic.

The family of the deceased boy will eventually hire an experienced New York accident lawyer to assist in the recovery of money damages for the loss and the personal injuries sustained by his pregnant mother. When we get to that point, the accident lawyer will have to sort out what really happened at the accident scene. Said attorney will first have to take a close look at the surroundings of the accident location. I am very familiar with the location and can attest to the fact that the corner is very difficult to cross. Pedestrians have to be extremely careful when crossing as vehicles are always racing around the corner to access the ramp to the RFK. Another major problem with this location is the lack of a stop sign/light to stop vehicles as they race to the RFK. Furthermore, there is a pool and a park close by so one can assume that pedestrians to and from the facilities would try to cross at this intersection. As a matter of fact, one of the many witnesses confirmed that the intersection is often used by pedestrians on their way to and from the park and pool.

So while another innocent child has lost his life in an auto accident in New York, we can only hope that his death will not be in vain. Perhaps, now, something can be done to prevent another auto accident from occurring at this particular dangerous New York City intersection.
